Scientific communication
Scientific communication is a very powerful tool to engage people with conservation issues. I’ve made a small selection of the dissemination materials (videos, news, interviews, congresses and didactic texts) in which I’ve been involved in some way over the last few years.

Gent de riu
In 'Gent de riu,' we uncover the distinction between history and memory, guided by a historian who leads us on a journey through the hydraulic heritage of the Congost sub-basin. Along this route, we assess how societies of the past managed scarcity and risk concerning hydraulic resources. We venture to the shantytowns along the banks of the Besòs, where social conflict intertwines with environmental concerns. Furthermore, we also make room for wildlife: this time, fish take center stage as we learn about the species inhabiting the Tordera, accompanying a group of scientists on an electrofishing expedition
Why is there less variety of butterflies every time?
There is a decreasing variety of butterflies over time. More than 70% of the species are declining. This conclusion stems from the data collected by the Catalan Butterfly Monitoring Scheme. This monitoring project, which tracks butterfly populations in Catalonia, engages a network of volunteers from across the country. The Grup de Natura Freixe is one of the collaborating entities.

The breeding of otters has been confirmed within the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve
The breeding of otters has been confirmed in the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve - Flix. This fact consolidates the recovery process of this species in the Ebro region. Through Connecticat of the network, we visit the Reserve, discovering the natural environment where otters breed and thrive.
For the first time, a female otter with its offspring has been recorded in the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve
The discovery confirms the recovery of this species of mustelid in the final stretch of the Ebro River. It's a significant finding made by the Grup de Natura Freixe, the entity managing the reserve. Arnau Pou, biologist and responsible for the conservation area at the Grup de Natura Freixe, stated: 'The presence of otters in the area is a sign of good habitat quality. Finding a female with offspring provides even more positive signals, and in fact, it opens up many possibilities. We can begin to consider the reserve as a large reservoir to disperse all these young otters that are breeding here downstream in this final stretch of the Ebro River
Exploring the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve
The Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve: Managed by the Grup de Natura Freixe. The Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve is one of the most important natural areas in the Terres de l'Ebre region, located in the Ribera d'Ebre. Together with the Meander of Flix, it covers an area of over 250 hectares of open waters, marshes, riparian forests, river islands, and pools. It is home to numerous species, including Camargue horses.
Creating a Safe Passage for Ebro's Otters: A Zebra Crossing Initiative
The death of an otter in early February, hit by a vehicle on the C-12 road over the Flix Dam (Ribera d'Ebre), has prompted the Rural Agents and the Grup Natura Freixe - managing the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve - to propose to the Government the creation of wildlife crossings to prevent animals from climbing onto the banks and crossing the road.
The Grup de Natura Freixe Preserves Native Species in the Irrigation Ponds of Ribera d'Ebre
The Grup de Natura Freixe is implementing the RESPECTA project. This project promotes stewardship agreements with irrigation communities to rescue native fish species from irrigation ponds and aid in their conservation. The project is supported by the Fundación Biodiversidad of the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica.

Pioneering Project to Rescue Fish Trapped in Irrigation Ponds with Environmental Criteria
The aim of this technical project is to share the key initiatives of the "Respecta project" with various stakeholders in the region. Alongside presenting preliminary outcomes, we'll outline our mid-term goals. Through collaboration, the Grup de Natura Freixe aims to establish a new environmental management framework for the Irrigation Communities of the Ribera d'Ebre. This initiative will empower them to actively participate in the recovery and preservation of native fish species in our territory.

Otters Thriving: Breeding Success in Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve
The images captured by camera traps used to monitor some species inhabiting the Sebes Wildlife Nature Reserve have revealed an otter with her offspring, confirming otter reproduction within the reserve. This morning, we discussed this significant discovery with Arnau Pou, biologist and conservation area manager at Grup de Natura Freixe
